Bereavement Policy

If you experience the death of a loved one, Home Chef offers a generous Bereavement policy for full-time employees.

Three (3) days of paid bereavement leave if you miss regularly scheduled work days due to the death or funeral of an extended family member such as a: cousin, aunt, uncle, close friend, or a spouse or domestic partner’s immediate family member.
Five (5) days of paid bereavement leave in the event you miss regularly scheduled work days due to the death or funeral of a member of the employee’s immediate family. Your immediate family includes your parents, stepparents, grandparents, grandchildren, siblings, your spouse, or your domestic partner’s parents.
Ten (10) days of paid bereavement leave if they miss regularly scheduled work days due to the death or funeral of an employee's spouse, child, or stepchild.

If you need to request bereavement time, you will need to provide documentation, such as an obituary or notice of a funeral.

You can either submit the documentation via the Ticket form or by providing a paper copy to your local HR team.
